Jurassic Coast - The Ammonite Graveyard

A local best kept secret, this stretch of beach is a must for anyone visiting the Jurassic Coast. Belamites, ammonites and even ichthyosaur platelet bones can be found on the walk there and when you arrive the Graveyard is a truly remarkable site.

Langmoor & Lister Gardens

Very clever terracing and landscaping make light of the otherwise steep hills you find everywhere else around Lyme Regis. The gardens above the coastal town provide fantastic sea views for picnics or ice creams. It also has a small crazy golf course.

Lyme Regis Golf Club - This is a par 71 at just over 6000 yards with a good mix of par 3, 4 and 5 holes

Axe Cliff Golf & Country Club – This is a par 70 at just under 6000 yards with a good mix of par 3, 4 and 5 holes.

Honniton Golf Club - This is a par 69 at just under 6000 yards with a good mix of par 3, 4 and 5 holes.

River Cottage HQ

Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall‘s famous smallholding is just 4 miles away inside the Dorset AONB, offering a variety of courses. The River Cottage restaurant is just over a mile’s walk into town.

Lyme Regis (4 miles) Seaton (7 miles), Beer (9 miles) and Seatown (9 miles) all have beautiful coastal walks, bird-watching, pubs and coffee-shops.

National Trust Sites

Golden Cap – One of England’s only natural World Heritage Sites, the rocky should of Golden Cap is the highest point on the south coast with spectacular views in all directions.

Shute Barton – Take a tour around this medieval manor house with late Tudor gatehouse and battlemented turrets and discover its fascinating characters and one of the largest fireplaces in England.

Loughwood Meeting House – Discover a story of secrecy and persecution at this cute 17th-centuary thatched Baptist meeting house, dug into the hillside just west of Axminster.

Branscombe - The village of Branscombe is a hidden gem surrounded by miles of picturesque walks through woodlands, over farmland and along the beach. The Old Bakery Tea room serves sandwiches, cakes and cream teas and The Old Forge is worth a visit to see their array of artisan ironwork.
